CURRENCY
Visa and Mastercard are widely accepted in Germany, though it is recommended to travel using a debit card or cash. When using a debit card, you can withdraw cash from an ATM with limited fees if needed. Most places will accept your debit card, but there are some that have either a cash-only policy, or a minimum amount you have to spend to use your debit card. Because of this, it is always good to keep cash on hand. You can also exchange your USD at local banks as well, but there may be hefty fees involved when doing it that way.
TIPPING
In restaurants, a 5-10% tip is generally expected. Cafes, taxis, salons, tours, and food deliveries do not expect a tip but it is always appreciated. In these instances, many people just round up the bill to the nearest euro.
